Wilf was the author of the ‘Jabez Stories’ which  he wrote in North Staffordshire Dialect under the pen name of A.Scott. With a short break in the 1980s he produced

a ‘Jabez’ story for The Sentinel - the local evening newspaper for North Staffordshire - every week from 1968 until his death in 1993. During that time he also wrote a series of Bible stories retold in dialect. Three collections of his stories were published between 1972 and 1978 and each sold several thousand copies. To  celebrate the publication of this Gold Edition Keele University has provided access to online

recordings of Wilf reading some of his stories, links to these files are contained in this book.
