Clayhanger Press has published a limited edition of 100 copies of a hand printed, hand bound collection of twelve cinquains responding to a photographic image produced by the North Staffordshire photographer William Blake.
Blake was born in the USA in 1874 but the family moved to England and settled in Longton, he was a talented photographer, selling his own works as postcards. William died in 1957 and his unique archive has been acquired by The Potteries Museum and Art Gallery and the use of the image for this publication is by kind permission of the Museum.
Clayhanger Press commissioned eleven poets to write an ekphrastic cinquain in response to the Blake image O Beautiful my Country and the twelfth page of the publication was reserved for the winning cinquain submitted to the competition.
